With decades of experience to substantiate his skills, Arthur C. Silverman recently accepted a role as partner and building construction lawyers of Rosenberg + Estis, P.C. The firm is one of New York City’s premier real estate practices having represented developers, landlords, institutions and not-for-profit clients such as the YMCA of Greater New York and the Museum of Modern Art. Upon joining the firm in 2018, Mr. Silverman brings his previous experience as a partner with Duane Morris LLP, Thelen LLP, Golenbock & Barrell. Earlier in his career, Mr. Silverman worked as an associate with Golenbock & Barrell and Baer & Marks. Mr. Silverman worked as an engineering assistant for General Electric from 1958 to 1962 and as a law clerk for Chief Judge Lumbard at the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
In his career, Mr. Silverman was instrumental as a lawyer for the owners and developers of the National September 11 Memorial & Museum. He has also represented the owners and developers for such NYC landmarks as the Jetblue Terminal at John F. Kennedy International Airport, the new Harlem campus for the Silberman School of Social Work with Hunter College and Eataly.
Mr. Silverman’s interests first motivated him into the field of engineering, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1960. In 1961, he received a Bachelor of Science in industrial management from the institution. Through time and exploring career possibilities, Mr. Silverman then picked up his education at Columbia University, earning a JD in 1964. Not long after, he was admitted to practice via the New York State Bar, the United States District Court Southern District of New York, the United States District Court Eastern District of New York and the Supreme Court of the United States. In 2009, he published “Getting the Most for Owners in Construction Contracting” for The Voice.
